Deprosc Laghubitta becomes the first microfinance institution in Nepal to issue payment cards through a strategic partnership with Smart Choice Technologies (SCT).
In a landmark move for Nepalese financial technology, Deprosc Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited has officially partnered with Smart Choice Technologies Limited (SCT) to launch card services and digital payment solutions. This collaboration makes Deprosc Laghubitta the first Class “D” microfinance institution in Nepal to offer direct payment card facilities to its clientele.
The historic agreement was signed between representatives of SCT, a premier Payment System Operator (PSO) licensed by Nepal Rastra Bank, and Deprosc Laghubitta, a leading microfinance provider licensed by the central bank.

Bridging the Rural Digital Divide in Nepal

By equipping microfinance members with card facilities and modern digital payment services, the partnership aims to:
Accelerate Financial Inclusion: Bring modern fintech and digital banking directly to marginalized and rural communities.
Enhance Payment Security & Convenience: Provide cardholders with a safe, efficient alternative to cash handling.
Strengthen Nepal’s Fintech Ecosystem: Deepen the reach of interoperable digital infrastructure across all levels of Nepalese banking.
Leadership Statements: Driving the “Network for All” Vision
Speaking at the signing ceremony, representatives emphasized that the partnership marks a crucial turning point for Nepalese microfinance.
SCT has consistently focused on expanding payment technologies across every layer of society. Grounded in its core philosophy of “Network for All,” SCT aims to build a more inclusive, robust, and accessible digital ecosystem for the entire country.
