Nepal Telecom Partners Nepal Premier League to Drive Brand Promotion and Support Domestic Cricket
18th October 2026, Kathmandu
State-owned telecommunications provider Nepal Telecom (NTC) has officially signed a landmark partnership agreement to serve as an official sponsor for the upcoming Nepal Premier League (NPL).
Speaking following the signing ceremony, NTC Chief Technical Officer Dilli Adhikari highlighted that the partnership is designed to achieve two core objectives: strengthening the company’s brand presence across Nepal and delivering structured institutional backing to domestic cricket.
Strategic Shift: Moving from Club-Level to National Sponsorship
Nepal Telecom has a long-standing history of supporting sports in Nepal, having previously sponsored various tournaments under the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). However, Adhikari emphasized that this new deal marks a significant evolution in their sponsorship strategy.
While past engagements were predominantly focused on club-level competitions, NTC is stepping up as a national-level commercial partner for the NPL.
“Nepal Telecom has consistently supported CAN and its regional events in the past. This time, we are stepping in as a national commercial partner,” stated Dilli Adhikari. “Our primary goal is to promote our brand while backing the institutional growth of cricket a sport that continues to gain massive popularity in Nepal—and helping take our players to the global stage.”
Aligning Brand Promotion with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
Adhikari made it clear that NTC does not view the NPL agreement strictly through a commercial lens. Instead, the company is treating this initiative as a core element of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.
Key Focus Areas of the NTC–NPL Partnership
Institutional Development: Building stronger structural and financial support for domestic cricket tournaments.
Global Exposure: Elevating the standard of Nepali cricket so local talent can compete at international benchmarks.
Community Engagement: Connecting with fans nationwide through the growing popularity of T20 cricket in Nepal.
ICC Recognition: A Landmark Milestone for Nepali Cricket
During his address, Adhikari extended warm congratulations to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) for securing official sanctioning from the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the NPL. He hailed this approval as a vital milestone that provides legitimacy and international prestige to the tournament.
“Receiving formal recognition from the ICC is a major achievement and a huge turning point for Nepali cricket,” Adhikari added. “We congratulate CAN on this accomplishment and wish the tournament complete success.”
Expecting a Bigger, Refined NPL Season
Looking ahead, Nepal Telecom expressed strong optimism for the upcoming NPL season, anticipating it to be larger, more refined, and more engaging for audiences than previous editions.
By combining commercial branding with sports development, NTC aims to set a precedent for corporate involvement in Nepali athletics while expanding its own subscriber engagement across the country.
