A digital map has been prepared so that information on the condition of the soil can be obtained by clicking on any point not just of the state, province, municipality, district.

The digital map was prepared by the National Center for Soil Science Research with technical assistance from Cement and financial support from UAEID.

This map was prepared on the basis of an analysis of the results of a total of 23,273 soil samples from 56 different districts, representing all the provinces of Nepal.

168 of the different environmental factors (covariates) that play a role in determining the soil properties on the basis of satellite images were considered during the preparation of the map.

Based on all of these, the Random Forest machine learning method has been used to predict the soil properties of different locations.

Digital soil maps may be used to assess the form of soil in a specific geographical area. The acidity of the soil, the amount of organic matter, the amount of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, the number of micronutrients, zinc, and boron may also be known.
