Devendra Raman Khanal Appointed CEO of Rastriya Banijya Bank: Leadership Transition and Strategic Vision

Devendra Raman Khanal officially assumed his role as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National Commercial Bank Limited.

The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Dilip Kumar Dhungana, the Chairman of the Board of Directors. Khanal’s appointment was confirmed during the board meeting held on Thursday, marking the beginning of his four-year term.

Appointment in Compliance with Regulatory Framework

Khanal’s appointment adheres to the regulations stipulated in sub-section 2 of section 29 of the Bank and Financial Institutions Act, 2073, and sub-rule 3 of rule 35 of the bank’s regulations. This compliance underscores the bank’s commitment to governance and regulatory standards.

Commitment to Stakeholders and Quality Service

In his address upon taking office, CEO Khanal emphasized his dedication to enhancing the value for all stakeholders. He highlighted the importance of implementing the policies set forth by the government, National Bank, and the institution itself. Khanal assured that his leadership will focus on delivering high-quality services to citizens, thereby fostering growth and confidence in the bank’s offerings.

A Background of Expertise and Leadership

Devendra Raman Khanal brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role. A chartered accountant since 2007 A.D, Khanal also holds an LLB in law and a master’s degree in mine management. His extensive background equips him with the necessary skills to steer the bank towards achieving its strategic objectives.

Open Competition and Transparent Selection

The process leading to Khanal’s appointment was marked by transparency and competitiveness. The bank had invited applications for the CEO position on 19th April 2024, ensuring an open competition to select the most qualified candidate. This approach reflects the bank’s dedication to fair and merit-based selection processes.

The appointment ceremony was attended by members of the bank’s board of directors, management committee, and trade union presidents. All present extended their congratulations to Khanal, expressing their support and optimism for his tenure.
