“Karkhana” producing needed Technical workforce for Nepal

Today, We are writing such It startup, which has the courage to changing Nepal’s Education System. The education given in schools, colleges, and universities of Nepal, to change that education scientifically, this team is named as “Karkhana.”

Karkhana was established three years ago. At that time, the director of Karkhana had made product designing and prototyping as the primary working field. In a team, everyone had an engineering background. But, they have the thought of discovering technology in Nepal only, for them the primary sector was Nepal’s education system, and they got a lack of innovation of eco-system.

The curriculum and education system here has made students’ mind dull and critical-minded; he started realizing these things. “That’s why Karkhana started working in the education sector to reduce these kinds of problems.” Company’s co-director and CEO Pabitra Gautam said. Before this, working on product designing, they started working on making laptops also made three printers in Nepal for the first time.

With Pabitra, the directors of Karkhana Sakar Pudasaini, Suresh Ghimire, Sunoj Das Shrestha, Dipeshwor Man Shrestha, they moved on for working in the education sector. In Kathmandu, Elite Co-Ed, Brihaspati Vidya Sadan, Rajshree Gurukul, Phoenix International School, Triyog Higher Secondary School, in these schools Karkhana is taking after-school classes. Likewise, in Government School, Bal Byabasahi Ma. Vi. Also, they are preparing for taking classes.

There, they teach making robots to the classes of 6 to 9 and 3 to 5. In type 6 to 9, the 6th session has started. Likewise, in grade 3 to 5, the 3rd session has begun. In Karkhana’s these classes, students have learned about electricity, magnet, time, pressure, energy, materials without studying.  Students happily read in the categories given by Karkhana.

Karkhana who flowed their hands for education is about to create an impact after ten years collecting all the workforce needed for that. “Education is not only information but also production. Education must produce innovating students; it must produce students who are capable of market production. That’s why the teaching method must be changed”, Pabitra added, “remembering this thing only, Karkhana created these class in cooperation with schools.”

In terms of teaching practical and theoretical study, they have also made digital content. Science, technology, Engineering, arts, Mathematics like steam subjects, these engineers take classes. Students do their project works cooperating with their friends and understand theoretical studies more. “Being a teacher and making students understand things is a great thing and now we have realized that thing. So, we are also taking the teacher’s training.” CEO Gautam said.

We can believe that the classes taken by Karkhana can produce the technology that the country needs and will also create such an environment. A child shouldn’t be made to believe that it will help them being entrepreneurs and businessman; in this thing, many problems are arising.

Changing the education system through a small company, making workforce and will develop a country, this these itself is a great challenge. The CEO of company Gautam says, “Like the rock which is in between two big rocks is hot; likewise Nepal is also between two economically able countries India and China. There are lots of possibilities in opportunities. We self should be capable of that. We won’t run saying there are a lot of troubles. We’ll keep on working.”

To open Karkhana, they have made 25 lakh investment. In between investment, research and struggle took a long time, more than that, they got to learn many things. In recent, they have nine members devoted to a team, who are working for making curriculums to making the products on their own. Likewise, they have the facility of providing internet to students.

First of all, Karkhana have experience of product designing company, cooperating with robotics association of Nepal they organized Tech named festival, being best in international Tech festival showing the robots made by them and now doing partnership with the schools and giving technical educations to students, these are the results that they achieved in a short time period. In future also, Karkhana has plans of fulfilling their responsibility towards society.
