Starlink is a satellite internet constellation being constructed by SpaceX providing satellite Internet access.
The constellation will consist of thousands of mass-produced small satellites in low Earth orbit(LEO), which communicate with designated ground transceivers.
Alan Musk’s company SpaceX Internet coverage will be available worldwide from next September.
The company’s chairman, Guyan Shortwell, made the announcement at an event on Tuesday, according to Reuters.
They have so far built 1,800 satellites for the Internet. More satellites are being launched.
As soon as all the satellite operations reach orbit, they will be able to provide internet service all over the world. That will take until September.
SpaceX plans to have 4,200 satellites in low-Earth orbit by 2027.
Although the Internet can be provided all over the world, permission will be required for the expansion of the Internet according to the policy of the country.
So far, the company is providing its internet service as a Beta in 11 countries.
These include the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and parts of Europe.
When it reaches global reach, it will be easy to use the Internet in rural areas as well.
The U.S. Federal Communications Commission this year approved SpaceX’s plan to deploy some Starlink satellites at a lower earth orbit than planned to provide high-speed broadband internet services to people who currently lack access.
Starlink is one of a growing number of makers of small satellites that also includes Amazon.com’s (AMZN.O) Kuiper, Britain’s OneWeb, venture capital-backed Planet, and Raytheon Technologies Corp’s (RTX.N) Blue Canyon Technologies
