FAN and MDEA Sign Bilateral Agreement to Foster Fintech Innovation

The financial technology (#fintech) landscapes of Nepal and Myanmar are set for a significant boost following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Fintech Alliance Nepal (#FAN) and the Myanmar Digital Economy Association (#MDEA).

Foster Fintech InnovationMr. Rajendra Shrestha, Executive Member of Fintech Alliance Nepal, signed the MoU on behalf of FAN, while Mr. Aung Zayar Lwin, President of Myanmar Digital Economy Association, signed on behalf of MDEA.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Honorable Ambassador H.E. Mr. Harishchandra Ghimire.

This exciting collaboration aims to leverage FAN’s expertise to support the formation of a dedicated Fintech Alliance in Myanmar, fostering innovation and development in the fintech sectors of both countries.

The partnership is expected to enhance cooperation, share best practices, and drive growth within the regional fintech industry.

About Myanmar Digital Economy Association

The Myanmar Digital Economy Association (MDEA) was initially established as a cluster under the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) and later became a full-fledged association with the support of the Ministry of Commerce, Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. Officially registered under the Myanmar Companies Law 2017 on August 15, 2019, MDEA operates as a non-profit and non-governmental organization focused on advancing the digital economy in Myanmar.

MDEA aims to enable the digital economy ecosystem by fostering innovation in traditional businesses through digital platforms and providing equal opportunities to reduce abuse and unfair practices. It focuses on increasing market access for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), building the capacity of digital professionals, and educating consumers. Additionally, MDEA is dedicated to policy advocacy, promoting the digital economy industry’s development, and enhancing security, trust, and confidence within the digital landscape.
