Garment Association of Nepal Contributes Rs 3.33 Million for Bhotekoshi Flood Relief

The Garment Association of Nepal (GAN) released a statement on Bhadra 10, 2083, expressing deep sorrow over the severe loss of lives and property caused by catastrophic flooding in the Bhotekoshi River, which originated from the Tibet region.
Garment Association Flood Relief Contribution
The trade association extended condolences to bereaved families, expressed hopes for the recovery of injured citizens, and commended ongoing emergency response operations carried out by the Government of Nepal, security agencies, and local administrations.
Financial Assistance and Industry Relief Operations
To support humanitarian efforts, the association and its corporate members have mobilized both monetary aid and physical supplies.
- PM Disaster Relief Fund Donation: The Garment Association of Nepal handed over a cheque worth Rs 3,333,333 to the Finance Minister for deposit directly into the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund.
- Individual Corporate Contributions: Member garment manufacturers across Nepal are also making separate financial contributions to the central relief fund.
- Essential Material Distribution: The association is distributing clothing, ready-made garments, and other basic necessities to displaced victims with support from local member factories and international buyers.
Long Term Economic Recovery and Corporate Commitment
The association highlighted the need for strategic interventions alongside immediate humanitarian aid to ensure economic stability in affected regions.
- Focus on Economic Rehabilitation: GAN emphasized that long term recovery must prioritize restoring local business activity, protecting existing employment, and creating new job opportunities for affected households.
- Ongoing Solidarity Commitment: The association pledged continued cooperation and organizational support for rescue, relief, physical rehabilitation, and workforce restoration across flood impacted communities.
