Google has reportedly bought an Artificial Intelligence Avatar startup ‘Alter’ for roughly 100 million dollars in the hope of competing with social media giant TikTok.

According to various reports, Google acquired the startup two months back. However, Google has not updated any official statement about the purchase.

Alter is a platform that employs AI tools to help social media brands and users express their virtual identities.

A Google spokesperson has confirmed the acquisition of Alter by Google but has denied to reveals any details about financial and transaction details.

Top executives of Alter were found to update their Linkedin profile, particularly mentioning a collaboration with Google.

The purchase is particularly aimed to give tough competition to TikTok which has overtaken the tech giant Google to become the world’s most popular website in 2021.
