Google Report: Nepal’s Mobility Curve Is On Sharp Decline

After the Corona outbreak, Nepal is under a two-week lockdown. People have accepted social distancing and working from home. There has been a sharp decline on the mobility curve of people of Nepal.

Google prepared COVID-19 Community Mobility Report. This report helps the public health officials to understand responses to social distancing. The baseline is the median value, for the corresponding day of the week, during the 5-week period Jan 3–Feb 6, 2020.

According to the report, mobility to retail & recreation has decreased by 78 percent compared to baseline. It includes mobility trends for public places. This includes places like restaurants, cafes, shopping centres, museums, libraries, and movie theatres.

Mobility trends for places like farmer markets, speciality food shops and pharmacies have also decreased by 69 percent.

it is seen that mobility trends for places like national parks, plazas, and public gardens have also decreased by 55 percent.

The report states that mobility trends for public transport hubs such as bus stations have decreased by 74 percent. Also, the mobility trends for places of work have fallen by 72 percent.

According to Google’s report, mobility trends for places of residence have increased by 28 percent.
