How to move conversations from an iPhone to an Android 12 device
Google has made operating-system-level adjustments to allow users to transfer their WhatsApp chat histories from iPhones to Android devices starting with Android 12. For now, the feature is limited to Pixel phones but should be rolling out to all new smartphones that launch with Android 12.
Here’s how to do it step-by-step:
- You’ll need a phone that has been factory reset and has Android 12 installed.
- Connect the iPhone to your Android smartphone using a USB-C to Lightning connector.
- To import all or selected data from your iPhone to your Android 12 phone, follow the on-screen instructions.
- To complete the data transfer, press the “proceed” button.
- Scan the QR code displayed on the Android smartphone with your iPhone when required during the transfer procedure.
- WhatsApp may be launched by scanning the QR code with an iPhone. You’re ready to proceed once you’ve pushed the start button.
How to move WhatsApp conversations from an iPhone to a Samsung device?
Earlier this year, WhatsApp unveiled the ability to transport chats between platforms and a relationship with Samsung. This eliminates the need for Android 12 for Samsung devices, although it does make the process more difficult.
- Your Samsung smartphone should be reset.
- Connect your iPhone to your Samsung smartphone using a USB-C to Lightning cable when prompted by the onboard smart-switch software.
- Select all of the apps and data, including WhatsApp, that you want to move.
- Scan the QR code displayed on the phone’s screen when requested.
- Your iPhone should open WhatsApp when you scan the QR code. To continue transferring data, press the start button.
- You can now finish setting up your Samsung device.
- After that, open WhatsApp and sign in with the same phone number you used on the iPhone.
- When prompted, click the Import button to finish the process.
Transferring WhatsApp chats from an iPhone to an Android device is a simple process that should take no more than a few minutes, depending on the size of the WhatsApp backup. The entire transfer is encrypted and takes place locally. All information, including conversation history, images, and videos, should be preserved, but your WhatsApp call history will be lost.
