Huawei Nepal Announces Top 6 Winners of Seeds for the Future Program 2024

Huawei Nepal on Friday announced the winners of its Seeds for the Future program, the flagship CSR program of the company aimed at developing skilled ICT talent and fostering cross-cultural communication.

This event, held as part of Huawei’s Seeds for the Future program, brought together 30 shortlisted students from an impressive pool of over 300 applicants.

Huawei Nepal Top WinnerFollowing the closure of the final interview on July 1, an independent panel of selectors, including representatives from institutions like; Prof. Dr. Shashidhar Ram Joshi, Dean, Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University; Mr. Indu Bikram Joshi, Joint Secretary (Science & Technology), Ministry of Education; Ms. Guna Keshari Pradhan, President, Women in Information Technology; Mr. Hempal Shrestha, Co-Founder, IFN; Ms. Aakriti Kharel, Digital Media Specialist, UNESCO Nepal; and Mr. Rohit Chandra Shah, Data Center Business Leader, Huawei Nepal Office, among others, interviewed the shortlisted students and evaluated their final score to decide on the finalists.

The students were judged based on their scores on criteria such as leadership skills, academic excellence, communication skills, teamwork collaboration, adaptability and flexibility, motivation and passion, problem solving, technical skills and knowledge, innovation, and ethics, among others.

The Top Six students that got the highest scores and found their way into the finals are Mr. Aashish Karki, Ms. Angelina Ghimire, Ms. Priyanshu Sharma, Ms. Sadhana Panthi, Mr. Samip Aryal, and Ms. Samriddhi Karki, and they will compete in the regional competition to be held through September 2024 in China under the Tech4Good Regional round.

During the final stage of the competition, the students will learn more from networking opportunities, get additional guidance from local and international mentors, and gain real-world business experience through the program.  The winners will also get a unique opportunity to explore China ‘s digital landscape, get introduced to ICT and emerging high-tech companies, gain insights into their operations, and participate in interactive sessions with industry leaders.

About Seeds for the Future 2024, Nepal:

Seeds for the Future Nepal is a flagship CSR program by Huawei, launched in Nepal in 2021, aimed at inspiring global talent to shape the future. This program offers participants immersive experiences that blend learning and cultural exchange, with students visiting Thailand, Singapore, and China for regional rounds in the past.

Globally, Seeds for the Future has benefited over 18,000 students from 141 countries since its inception in Thailand in 2008. In Nepal, outstanding students engage in a series of activities, including college tours, workshops, and a bootcamp, culminating in a final interview and result announcement.

Regional round includes a trip to China for the selected students, where participants will explore topics such as digital power, cloud computing, 5G, and AI. The regional program also features the Tech4Good competition, with regional champions advancing further to the global final again in China in 2025.
