Kathmandu Marriott’s Edamame Hosts “The Essence of Japan” Food Festival
6th September 2026, Kathmandu
Edamame, the signature Asian restaurant at Kathmandu Marriott Hotel, invites food enthusiasts and culture seekers to experience “The Essence of Japan,” an exclusive culinary showcase celebrating the rich heritage, regional flavors, and stories behind authentic Japanese cuisine. The festival runs from 5th to 18th October 2026.
Under the central theme “Travel Around Japan Through Food,” Edamame transforms into an immersive culinary map. Guests will embark on a regional gastronomy tour from Hokkaido in the north to Kyushu in the south, exploring local specialties across iconic destinations including Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka, Kagawa, Hiroshima, Hakata, Fukuoka, Oita, and Nagasaki.
Beyond traditional dining, “The Essence of Japan” offers a narrative-driven experience connecting cuisine with living culture. Interactive menu highlights include a Hand-Roll Sushi Station, fresh sashimi paired with premium imported sake, crafted highballs, and traditional matcha desserts.
Having called Kathmandu home for three years, Chef Kyohei brings a genuinely authentic Japanese dining experience to Edamame, pairing ingredients sourced directly from Japan with the country’s distinct regional geography.
For Chef Kyohei, dining is an immersive cultural celebration meant to be savored rather than simply consumed.
To honor this tradition, the venue features heirlooms inherited from his grandfather alongside his personal plant collection, transforming Edamame into a warm, home-like sanctuary that promotes true Japanese heritage.
Experience “The Essence of Japan” at Edamame, Kathmandu Marriott Hotel, from 5th to 18th October 2026.
