IME Life Insurance Company Limited Marks Nine Years and Enters Tenth Year of Operations

IME Life Insurance Company Limited has officially entered its tenth year of operations after completing nine years in the life insurance sector.
IME Life Enters Tenth Year of Operations
The company formally commenced its insurance business on Bhadra 1, 2074. Over this nine-year period, IME Life has expanded its market presence and secured the top spot in profitability among life insurers in Nepal, according to its unaudited fourth-quarter financial results for fiscal year 2082 83.
Top Position in Profitability Across the Sector
According to the published unaudited financial report, IME Life earned a net profit of 584.24 million rupees in the last fiscal year. This earned the company the highest profit position among all 14 life insurance companies operating in Nepal.
The total combined net profit of the 14 life insurance companies stood at approximately 5.44 billion rupees for the fiscal year. While overall industry profits declined by over 10 percent compared to the prior year, IME Life maintained stable earnings to lead the sector.
Substantial Growth in Net Premiums and Policy Volumes
Business expansion for IME Life moved at a rapid pace alongside its steady profitability figures during the review period.
Net insurance premium collection grew by 35.82 percent, rising from 5.49 billion rupees in the previous fiscal year to 7.46 billion rupees. Total insurance premium collection went up from 5.65 billion rupees to 7.74 billion rupees.
First-year premiums, including single premiums, jumped 55 percent to reach 3.06 billion rupees compared to 1.97 billion rupees in the previous year. Renewal premiums increased from 3.68 billion rupees to 4.68 billion rupees.
Active insurance policies reached 518,093 by the end of Ashadh 2083, up from 474,255 in the prior year. The company issued 264,549 new policies during the period.
Life Insurance Fund Assets and Claims Management
The life insurance fund grew by 39 percent in a single year to reach 1.83 billion rupees. Total investments expanded from 1.77 billion rupees to 2.33 billion rupees, pushing total assets to 2.68 billion rupees.
Despite lower interest rates in the banking sector, investment and loan income generated 138.21 million rupees. Total claims and policyholder benefits paid out during the year amounted to 146.59 million rupees.
Leadership Board and Management Structure
The company operates under a Board of Directors chaired by Dr. Ramhari Aryal. Board members include Usha Dhakal, Binod K.C., Sitaram Thapa, Sandeep Agrawal, and Sunil Kumar Pokharel.
Executive management is led by Chief Executive Officer Pawankumar Khadka, supported by Deputy Chief Executive Officer Khilendra Poudel and Head of Underwriting Sudip Rana.
