IT Olympiad Nepal

IT Olympiad, organized by AADIM College, co-organized by Code for Change, is the first I.T. Olympiad contest in Nepal happening in 80 schools from all of the seven provinces of Nepal. It is an event on I.T. (Information Technology) which will cover topics from basic concepts in I.T. to the latest innovations. It is a dynamic event in which students who are highly interested in I.T. can learn new concepts, discover new ideas, and garner knowledge in the domain of technology which will help them boost their interest and confidence in technology and help them shape their future in this exciting field.

This event is a noncommercial, sponsor funded and unbiased common ground for those students to encourage them towards pursuing information technology as a subject for higher studies and prospect for a future career.

The vision of this event is for a Nepal where the young bright minds will be fully equipped with the right knowledge on Information Technology to be able to bridge the gap of society with the correct use of I.T. as the most powerful tool of this century.

The Objective of the I.T. Olympiad is to create a competitive platform for students of Nepal, who are highly interested in I.T., where they can gain the latest knowledge, test their I.T. skills, and learn competitive skill sets.

Among the board of trustees of the event is Prof. Dr. Subarna Shakya from IOE, TU, Mr. Ganesh Shah, former technology minister of Nepal, Dr. Mahabir Pun, Chairperson, National Innovation Center, and Asst. Prof. Nabaraj Poudel, Head of CSIT, TU. The organizing committee comprises 40 volunteers from all over Nepal who are working in the execution of this event. Mr. Shahkar Pd. Sharma from AADIM College and Mr. Prajwol Tiwari from Code for Change is the end responsible for this event.

The target students for this event are students currently studying in grades 8, 9, and 10. The event is divided into level competition, provincial-level competition, and national level grand finale. In local level competition, students within the schools compete with each other out of which 2 students are selected as winners from each school who will compete in a team in the provincial finals.

The provincial competition will be conducted among winning teams from each school from out of which one team will be selected as a provincial winner. The provincial winning team will be brought to Kathmandu for the Grand Finale. A syllabus for preparation will be provided to the winning teams before both provincial and national finals.

The local level competition is ongoing starting from Chaitra 7 till Chaitra 21. The provincial finale will be conducted parallelly in 5 provinces and subsequently in the remaining provinces on Chaitra 25th and Chaitra 28th 2077. The national finale is scheduled to happen on Baishakh 18th 2078.
