Recognizing a critical healthcare gap in the eastern part of Koteshwor, Nagarik Community Teaching Hospital Limited has officially kicked off construction on an 11-story, ultra-modern facility in Gatthaghar, Bhaktapur.
Supported by a total investment of roughly NPR 2.5 billion (NPR 250 Crore), this landmark infrastructure initiative promises to make high-end medical care, advanced diagnostics, and trauma response directly accessible to residents living east of the valley’s central choke points.

Bridging the Medical Services Gap East of Koteshwor
For years, residents of Bhaktapur, Banepa, Dhulikhel, and surrounding communities faced long commutes through heavy traffic across Koteshwor to access tertiary hospitals in Kathmandu or Lalitpur.

Following the foundation-laying ceremony on Ashar 18, active construction commenced on Ashar 31. Phase 1 operations are scheduled to open within one year, transitioning the hospital from its currently rented premises to a fully owned, purpose-built medical campus.

Originally founded nearly 18 years ago as Munal Clinic, the institution grew into Nagarik Community Teaching Hospital and established the Nagarik College of Health Sciences, which offers academic programs in Nursing and Health Assistant (HA) training.
In August 2024 (Bhadra 2081 B. S.), leadership shifted under the management of the HAMS Hospital Group, headed by Chairman RS Bhandari. Leveraging HAMS’s established medical expertise, operational standards, and modern patient care protocols, the institution has already integrated nearly NPR 86 Crore into upgrades, laying the groundwork for this multi-phase teaching hospital.
