Awareness about cyber security at Hope Foundation. CSI Nepal completed its awareness session at Hope Foundation located at Kapan, Kathmandu. The program started at around 7 AM with Mr. Chiranjibi Adhikari and Mr. Bikash Neupane among the speakers.

The team decided to visit a new place which is in equal need of alertness about cyber threats as schools and colleges are. So, Hope Foundation a rehabilitation center for former drug-users, who are treated to be free from drug abuse and aided in re-joining the society was selected as a new venue for this session. This is an example of CSI Nepal team’s objective to spread the word about cyber security to every person that uses the cyberspace.

Mr. Chiranjibi Adhikari began the presentation by providing a brief overview of the situation of cybersecurity in Nepal and the need for its improvement in Nepal. In the process, he offered the participants with useful techniques to secure oneself while using the internet and also informed about the basic dos and don’ts in social media.

Mr. Bikash Neupane followed up by speaking on the importance of cybersecurity awareness and the need for the state to give this issue a top priority. He provided the participants with practical examples of victims of cyber crime due to their ignorance, unawareness, etc.

Ms. Sadhana Basnet an instructor at the foundation thanked CSI Nepal team for choosing the former drug-users as an audience for the awareness campaign and helping them re-connect with the happenings in the society. Many participants also extended their warm gratitude to the team for this session and commended their efforts and aim to spread awareness about cybersecurity.

Dr. Ramhari Subedi provided the conceptual framework for the program and Mr. Chiranjibi Adhikari coordinating to organize the program.

The program has been supported by Mr. Prem Bhandari – Civil Engineer /CEO of AMAEngineering, Virginia USA and Mr. Anil Pandey – CEO of MotherlandNepal Organization, Honorary PRR of NTB, California USA as a show of solidarity in the cause to improve the cybersecurity level in Nepal and help to contribute in spreading awareness.
