Nepal Insurance Authority Chairperson Rajan Bikram Thapa appointed by the government. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle administers the oath for insurance sector reforms.

The Government of Nepal has appointed Rajan Bikram Thapa as the new Chairperson of the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA). The decision was finalized during a Cabinet meeting following recommendations submitted by the selection committee formed under the Ministry of Finance.

In an official swearing-in ceremony held at the Ministry of Finance, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed Chairman.

Finance Minister Urges Bold Governance and Sector Growth

Following the oath, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle delivered key instructions to Chairman Thapa, directing him to work fearlessly and decisively to enhance the credibility and overall development of Nepal’s insurance industry.

The Minister stressed the necessity of expanding insurance coverage across the country while upholding high corporate governance standards.

Priorities Set for Sector Reform

Upon assuming responsibility, Chairperson Thapa highlighted his main priorities, including strengthening market regulation, modernizing policies, and bolstering public trust.

Under his leadership, the Nepal Insurance Authority aims to refine organizational efficiency and protect consumer interests throughout the country.
