The youth, Robin Tamang from Bhotekoshi, Sindhupalchok, suffered a torn kidney after being struck in the ribs by an opponent’s knee during the match. The medical team, led by Urologist and Kidney Transplant Surgeon Dr. Vesh Ansari, performed a complex surgery to save Robin’s life and repair his damaged kidney.

The incident occurred on October 3rd, 2024, while Robin was playing football at Mankamana Futsal, Malkalbari. Despite experiencing severe pain after the impact, he managed to finish his school exam the same day. However, the pain persisted, and he was rushed to Nepal Medical College’s emergency room later that afternoon.

Dr. Vesh Ansari explained, “The injury caused significant bleeding, and the kidney was partially severed. A CT scan confirmed the kidney tear, and by the time we could operate, Robin’s blood levels had drastically dropped.” Thanks to the swift intervention, the surgical team, including resident doctors Dr. Vidhana and Dr. Hemant, successfully sutured the kidney, and Robin is now recovering well.

Robin’s mother, Rosy Tamang, expressed her relief, thanking the doctors and medical staff for their exceptional work. “I was terrified when I learned about his injury. I never thought a kidney could be stitched, but Dr. Ansari and his team saved my son’s life, and I am forever grateful,” she shared.

Nepal Medical College has become a key center for complex kidney and urinary surgeries, thanks to the expertise of Dr. Ansari, who has been serving at the institution for the past two years. His leadership in handling intricate urological cases, including kidney transplants, has elevated the hospital’s reputation for delivering advanced healthcare solutions in Nepal.
