The Nepali Sports Digital Archive will now be kept.

The ‘Digital Archiving Project of Nepal Sports 2020/21’ for the archiving of Nepali sports was launched by the Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) and the Nepal Olympic Museum. It is managed under the IOC Olympic Solidarity Program under the International Olympic Committee at the initiative of the NOC.

The Solidarity Program has given financial support for the project, a press statement given by NOC said that an agreement was reached between NOC and the museum for which work began in August.

NOC is very much optimistic that Nepali sports will have a far-reaching impact on this initiative. This is the very first time that such work is being done on such a large scale in the history of Nepali sports and it will be an effort to record the history of Nepali sports and pass it on to the new generation.

Accordingly, from the beginning of Nepali sports until now the Olympic Museum has preserved records of sports events, participation, and achievements. Similarly, the committee has reported that it is planning to keep in digital archives the records of Nepali players and sports associations.

As the history of Nepali, sports has not yet been systematically documented, NOC has begun to attempt to fulfill it. Efforts will also be made to compile records relating to the Sports Act, the history of the Nepal Olympic Committee itself the performance of Nepal in international competitions so far as well as Nepali sports photographs and videos. Sports relevant to the Olympics will be given more priority for this reason,’ the statement said.
