The state-owned telecommunication service provider Nepal’s Doorsanchar Company Ltd., popularly known as Nepal Telecom or NTC, has a 91.49 percent share of the government’s share.

Nepal Telecom now offers its own IP TV service. Telecom is planning to offer IP TV services from the comming English New Year, according to the company. Telecom’s Managing Director Dilliram Adhikari says that a test broadcast for the television service is being made. Several arrangements were made to start the service from Baisakh 1st.

The company has said that it is working hard to connect the clean feed content and packages of foreign televisions to the service.

Upon launch of the service, telecom FTTH Internet customers will be able to obtain telephone, internet, and television services from the same CPE. FTTH IP TV customers will also use telecom IP TV. The same CPE can be used for telephone, internet, and television setup boxes.

“It adds value to Telecom’s services,” he said. “Customers don’t have to look for separate service providers for telephone, internet, and television at home.”

Various internet service providers at the private level currently offer IP TV services. Telecom will soon launch its own OTT (Over the Top) mobile television, according to IP TV’s Managing Director. Currently, the telecom offers OTT mobile TV services only through private providers.
