Netrajyoti Agriculture Cooperative Celebrates 14th Anniversary With Tree Plantation And AGM

Netrajyoti Agriculture Cooperative Limited, based in Ward Number 14 of Chautara Sangachowkgadhi Municipality, Sindhupalchok, celebrated its 14th anniversary alongside its Annual General Meeting by launching an environmental conservation initiative.

The event began with the planting of a banyan tree by Chautara Sangachowkgadhi Municipality Mayor Krishna Prasad Sapkota and a peepal tree by Ward Number 14 Chairperson Uddhab Nepal at the Thanbaregadhi Janmotsav Park in Ghamane Danda. The plantation symbolized the cooperative commitment to sustainable natural resource management and community well-being.
Local Government Highlights Role In Agricultural Economy
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Mayor Krishna Prasad Sapkota described agricultural cooperatives as an essential driver of local economic growth. He noted that community-based agricultural organizations play a central role in boosting crop output, creating local job opportunities, and elevating rural household incomes.
The mayor also drew attention to the cultural importance of the Thanbaregadhi Janmotsav Park, which houses statues honoring national artist Pahalman Lal Bahadur Khati and scholar Pandit Bidyapati Sapkota. He urged cooperatives to focus on expanding agricultural productivity, adopting modern farming techniques, and establishing stronger market linkage systems for local producers.

The general meeting drew several community leaders and sector representatives, including:

- Janak Giri, District President of the Federation of Community Forestry Users Nepal
- Sher Bahadur Shrestha, Chairman of Janamilan Savings and Credit Cooperative
- Badri Prasad Nepal, Chairman of Janahit Dairy Producers Cooperative
Guest speakers emphasized the necessity of operational transparency, institutional accountability, systematic agricultural planning, and inter-cooperative coordination. Attendees noted that combining the official meeting with a tree plantation drive provided a strong message regarding climate change adaptation and environmental stewardship.
Annual Financial Review And Future Roadmap
During the formal business session of the Annual General Meeting, executive office bearers presented the annual progress report, detailed financial statements for the fiscal year 2082/83, and proposed operational programs for the upcoming fiscal year.
Cooperative members reviewed the financial submissions and approved the presented reports. General members recommended expanding practical skill development workshops for farmers, improving collective marketing channels, and increasing access to capacity-building programs.

Founded in 2069 BS, Netrajyoti Agriculture Cooperative has worked to organize smallholder farmers, foster agricultural self-reliance, increase family incomes, and advance the cooperative model across the district.
The cooperative regularly conducts agricultural technology extension activities, community outreach programs, and local development projects aimed at building sustainable agrarian livelihoods. Participants commended the 14th anniversary celebration for linking agricultural development with environmental protection for future generations.
