Non Life Insurance Companies Fourth Quarter Financial Report Fiscal Year 2082/83 Overview

Non life insurance companies operating in Nepal earned more than 2.72 billion rupees in net profit during the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2082/83.
Non-Life Insurance Profit Loss Analysis
According to the financial statements published by the companies, they collectively posted a net profit of 2.73 billion rupees during the review period.
In the same period of the previous fiscal year, the companies had earned 4.44 billion rupees in overall profit. Compared to the same period last year, net profit declined across all non life insurance companies with the single exception of Prabhu Insurance.
Prabhu Insurance Stands as the Only Growth Achiever
During the review year, Prabhu Insurance was the only company to record an increase in overall net profit. While profits declined across most non life insurance companies, Prabhu Insurance managed to improve its bottom line profitability.
The company earned a net profit of 246.4 million rupees during the period, compared to 209.8 million rupees in the same period of the previous fiscal year. This represents a 20 percent increase in profit year-on-year.
National Insurance Company Remains in Loss
During the review period, National Insurance Company remained in negative territory.
The company incurred a net loss of 131.08 million rupees during the review period. However, this represents a minor recovery compared to a net loss of 150.7 million rupees recorded in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Top Profit Earners Oriental Insurance and Rastriya Beema Company
According to the financial statements, Oriental Insurance Company recorded the highest net profit during the review period, earning 490.4 million rupees. In the same period of the previous fiscal year, the company had incurred a net loss of 117.6 million rupees.
Rastriya Beema Company ranked second in profitability, posting a net profit of 344.4 million rupees during the review period. The company had earned 427.6 million rupees in the same period of the previous year, representing a 19.46 percent decline in net profit.
Financial Performance Across Mid Tier Non Life Insurers
Himalayan Everest Insurance Company earned a net profit of 337.8 million rupees during the review period, compared to 532.3 million rupees in the previous fiscal year. Its profit declined by 36.53 percent year-on-year.
Siddhartha Premier Insurance Company earned a profit of 326.8 million rupees during the review period, compared to 755.7 million rupees in the same period of the previous fiscal year. Its profit declined by 56.75 percent compared to the previous year.
Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance Company Salico earned a net profit of 313.0 million rupees during the review period, down from 403.2 million rupees in the previous year. Its profit declined by 22.35 percent year-on-year.
Neco Insurance Company earned a net profit of 288.3 million rupees during the review period, compared to 578.8 million rupees in the same period of the previous fiscal year, representing a 50.19 percent decline.
Profit Breakdown for Remaining Sector Players
Shikhar Insurance Company earned a profit of approximately 130 million rupees during the review period, compared to 452.0 million rupees in the previous fiscal year, reflecting a 71 percent decline year-on-year.
Sanima GIC Insurance Company earned a profit of approximately 130 million rupees during the review period, compared to 336.7 million rupees in the same period of the previous fiscal year, declining by 61 percent.
Nepal Insurance Company earned a profit of 127.5 million rupees during the review period, compared to 316.4 million rupees in the previous fiscal year, representing a 59 percent decline year-on-year.
United Ajod Insurance Company earned a profit of 63.0 million rupees during the review period, compared to 178.0 million rupees in the same period of the previous year, showing a 64 percent reduction.
NLG Insurance Company earned a net profit of 57.8 million rupees during the review period, compared to 153.3 million rupees in the same period of the previous fiscal year, declining by 62 percent year-on-year.
IGI Prudential Insurance Company posted a net profit of 4.04 million rupees during the review period, compared to 364.9 million rupees in the same period of the previous fiscal year, marking a 98 percent decline year-on-year.
