Prabhu Group has been reducing its shareholding in Prabhu Bank. According to the bank’s recent annual report, the group held 2,851,978 shares at the end of fiscal year 2022/023. However, by the end of the following year (023/024), this number had decreased to 2,354,000 shares.

Decrease in Prabhu Group’s Ownership

Prabhu Group’s ownership in the bank has dropped. The group’s shareholding, which was 1.21% in the previous year, has now decreased to 0.99%. This marks a clear reduction in the group’s stake in the bank.

Asian Life Insurance Increases Shareholding

In contrast, Asian Life Insurance has increased its shareholding. In the previous year, the company held 803,792 shares. This year, it raised its stake to 1,759,009 shares. This increase means Asian Life now owns 4.99% of Prabhu Bank, up from 3.41%, making it the largest shareholder.

Other Major Stakeholders in Prabhu Bank

Apart from Prabhu Group and Asian Life, several other entities hold significant shares in the bank. Gaurav Agrawal ranks as the second-largest shareholder with 6,379,000 shares, which gives him 2.71% ownership. The Citizen Investment Fund also holds a substantial portion with 5,951,000 shares, accounting for 2.53% of the total shares.

Other Significant Individual Shareholders

Prabhu Group remains the fourth-largest shareholder in the bank. Mijaz Bhattachan holds the fifth-largest stake with 0.80% ownership. Additionally, Sudip Acharya and Ambika Sharma Lamichhane each own 0.60% of the bank. Other individual shareholders include Jyanou Shrestha, who holds 0.58%, and Rajendra Bhattachan and Swarup Gurung, who each own 0.57%.

Smaller Stakeholders

The bank’s report also highlights smaller shareholders. Nepal Investment holds 0.52%, Shivam Cement owns 0.51%, and Sun Nepal Life Insurance has 0.50% ownership.

Conclusion

Prabhu Bank’s annual report shows significant changes in its shareholder structure. Prabhu Group continues to decrease its stake, while Asian Life Insurance has expanded its ownership to become the largest shareholder.

Other institutional and individual shareholders also play important roles in the bank’s ownership, contributing to a diverse and dynamic shareholder base.
