Nepalese can now receive money from loved ones worldwide from Ria Money Transfer directly to the Khalti through City Express.

This alliance means that 2 million registered Khalti users can now reap the benefits of this new initiative in real-time within a convenient and safe ecosystem.

According to the World Bank, $8.1 billion in personal remittances were sent to Nepal in 2020, accounting for just over 24% of the country’s GDP.

To send money, the sender needs to

  • Go to the Ria app,
  • Tap on Send Money and Choose Nepal as the destination
  • Enter the total amount to send and
  • Select Khalti inside Mobile Money Transfer along with the recipient’s details and send

To receive money, receivers don’t need to do anything. The amount will automatically be loaded in their Khalti Wallet, and the transaction can be seen from Transaction History.
