Shobhakant Poudel, Joint Secretary, has been appointed as the Director General of the Customs Department, taking charge of the department.

This transfer was made by the Ministry of Finance, moving him from his previous position in the Ministry of Water Supply.

Shobhakant Poudel brings prior experience as the Director General of the Internal Revenue Department, which adds to his qualifications for this new role.

The Customs Department had been without a manager following the transfer of the previous Director General, Chakra Bahadur Budha.

This decision was made following the presentation of the new budget, aiming to enhance the department’s effectiveness in revenue generation.

Shobhakant Poudel’s appointment as the Director General of the Customs Department reflects the government’s efforts to strengthen the administration and management of customs operations.

It is expected that his expertise and experience will contribute to streamlining processes and maximizing revenue collection in the customs sector.
