Shift from Traditional to Digital
Long queues and physical forms are now outdated. Today, banks are focusing on fast, paperless, and mobile-friendly services. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated this change. Customers began demanding contactless banking. Banks responded with improved digital platforms. Siddhartha Bank stood out during this period.
It prioritized innovation. Rather than competing through mergers or risky expansions, the bank focused on internal growth and service delivery. Its digital banking solution, EasyBank, reflects this strategy.
What Is EasyBank?
EasyBank is a digital service launched four years ago. It started as a web-based system. Over time, the bank added new features based on customer feedback. The platform is part of Siddhartha Bank’s support for the government’s Digital Nepal campaign.
Now, customers can use EasyBank through the bank’s website or the Siddhartha Banksmart XP mobile app. The app brings banking to users’ fingertips.
Services at Your Fingertips
The EasyBank platform provides several core services. All are designed to reduce the need for in-person visits. Customers can use them through smartphones or computers.
The mobile app now includes an EasyBank icon under the “Service Request” menu. Tapping this icon reveals five main service categories:
Account Information
Customers can view all their account types—savings, current, and fixed deposits. The app also displays loan details and non-funded credit information. Users can track cheque status and get a complete view of their financial activities.
Loan Services from the App
One standout feature is the loan application through the app. Customers with fixed deposits can request loans of up to 90% of their deposit value. The amount is transferred directly into their savings account after approval.
Business owners using QR codes can also apply for loans. Additionally, credit card users can convert outstanding balances into EMI (Equated Monthly Installments) without branch visits.
Customer Service Tools
If a cheque is lost or needs to be stopped, users can do it through the app. They only need to enter the cheque number and reason. Customers can also block accounts for security or switch between different savings account types.
KYC Update Online
Updating personal information is easy. The “Online KYC” option allows changes to income, education, PAN number, marital status, and address. Customers can also upload new documents, such as national ID cards. There is no need to visit the bank.
Card Management
Card services are fully digital. Users can block or unblock debit and credit cards, request a new PIN, and check card statements. Linking the app to their credit card enables easy monitoring.
Web Access and Additional Features
Customers who prefer laptops or desktops can also use EasyBank through the bank’s website. After logging in, they get access to account services, card features, and even Demat-related tools.
Online Account Opening
Opening new accounts is now possible online. Customers can choose between savings and fixed deposits. Though full activation may require a branch visit, video KYC is available for those unable to go in person.
Users can also update their mobile number, email, and PAN details online. This is especially useful for customers living outside major cities.
Apply for Cards from Home
Credit and debit card applications are available online. Existing users can renew or replace their expired cards. The system allows users to select which branch they prefer to collect the new card.
Demat Services Simplified
Demat-related features are also included. Customers can apply for new Demat accounts through the EasyBank platform or Siddhartha Capital’s website. They can also check their CRN numbers, essential for applying for IPOs.
This digital access eliminates long lines and paperwork. Investors can manage their capital market activities from home.
A Step Towards Digital Nepal
Siddhartha Bank believes this innovation aligns with the nation’s digital goals. The EasyBank platform saves time, improves access, and reduces dependency on physical branches.
The bank continues to improve the platform. Its goal is to deliver convenient, secure, and customer-centric digital banking to all.
Looking Ahead
The future of banking in Nepal is digital. Siddhartha Bank is leading by example. It is making banking easier, faster, and more inclusive. With platforms like EasyBank, customers are now in control, no matter where they are.
