E-commerce firms are not authorized to sell consumer data to any other entity. In the draft bill prepared by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supply to handle e-commerce, provision has been made to bar entrepreneurs from such activities.

The bill stipulates that if the consumer needs to provide the entrepreneur with personal information of his/her identity in order to buy any products and services, such details should be protected.

Such information should not be given to anyone for any reason or even used by them. The bill states that, in the event of a breach of this provision, a person should be held accountable in compliance with the law on the security of personal privacy.
