Hult Prize “On campus event Completion.” Hult Prize at Tribhuvan University, School of Management, Team “SRASTHA” wins the Hult Prize at TU, SOM 2019
School of Management, Tribhuvan University completed its second session of Hult Prize on December 9th, 2018. The world’s most significant student competition, “Hult Prize,” whereby students tackle United Nations “For Us By Us: The Global Youth Unemployment” Challenge.
The Hult Prize is a start-up accelerator for social entrepreneurship that brings together the brightest college and university students from around the globe to solve the world’s problem. The Hult Prize aims to launch a start-up enterprise that can radically change the world and breed the next generation of social entrepreneurs. In partnership with the United Nations, the Hult Prize is hosting college and university events across the globe in search of the next game-changing start-up. It is a global movement of student leaders that have an objective of inspiring youth to change the world through business. Student teams compete around the world for a chance to secure US $ 1 Million start-up funding to launch a sustainable social venture.
In the words of President Clinton, “The Hult Prize is a wonderful example of the creative cooperation needed to build a world with shared opportunity, shared responsibility, and shared prosperity, and each year I look forward to seeing the many outstanding ideas the competition produces.”
Hult Prize at TU, SOM Final Event completed its “on-campus event” on December 9, 2018, which is the quarterfinal round of the Hult Prize 2019 and the winners get a direct qualification to the “Regionals Event” which will be happening at 26 different cities all over the world. Student entrepreneurs were asked to create viable start-up centered on the theme of the Hult. A total of 32 teams participated at the event and which was assessed by a panel of 16 jury members from different sectors and expertise.
The jury selected team “SRASTHA” as the winner of the Hult Prize 2019 event out of the total entries. Team “Gras Ruts” was the first runner-up and team “Doing traditional way, creating employment” secured the second runner-up position.
According to the team captain of “SRASTHA,” “We plan to prepare an online business called YATRI where the tourists can choose their travel companion to travel to small places. The companions they can choose are students who are enlisted in our online platform through the different selection process.”
Prof. Mahananda Chalise, the Director, chaired the program, School of Management, Tribhuvan University, and Prof. Dhurba Kumar Gautam, Acting Dean, Faculty of Management was the chief guest of the event. Prof. Dinesh Mani Ghimire, Deputy Dean, Faculty of Management was the special guest and added charm to the game.
