Social video sharing app, TikTok has reached more than 1 Billion downloads. In the year 2018, it was downloaded for more than 660 million times whereas another popular social media app, Instagram was reached 444 million downloads.

These statistics were presented by an app analytics company, Sensor Tower in a recent report they published. According to the report, due to the recent hype of TikTok, companies like Facebook and Snapchat are going to be affected.

Ranked 4th in non-game category:

According to the founder of Sensor Tower Oliver Yeh, in 2018, TikTok was downloaded 663 million times. It ranked 4th in the most downloaded app in the non-game category. Both the lite and regional versions of these applications are included in this data. The downloads in China on an android platform aren’t included in this list.

In the same time frame, the Facebook app reached 711 million downloads. According to the report, in January 2019, 71 million new users have downloaded different versions of TikTok on iOS and Android app stores. This number is 2.6 times greater than that of January 2018.

In December 2017, ByteDance bought Musical video app, Musically for 1 Billion Dollars. After the merging of these two apps, TikTok gained a lot of hype in 2018. With the hope of challenging TikTok, Facebook has launched a funny social video app named Lasso.But it wasn’t much successful. This isn’t the only time TikTok has been challenged. In December 2018, Snapchat launched a feature named Lens challenge that allows the users to share their lip sync videos like in TikTok.
