5th May 2025, Kathmandu
Everest Bank has rolled out a new digital payment product for online shoppers. The EBL E-Com Dollar Card is now available to help customers make easy, secure, and direct payments in US Dollars across global e-commerce platforms.

The bank introduced the card to support the growing number of Nepalese users shopping online or subscribing to international services. With more people turning to global markets, Everest Bank’s timely initiative ensures smooth cross-border transactions without complicated procedures.
Two Options: Physical and Virtual Cards
Customers can choose between a physical card or a virtual version, depending on their preference. Both versions are linked to the VISA network and can be used on any e-commerce site certified by Verified by Visa (VbV).
The virtual card offers faster access and is ideal for users who prefer digital convenience. The physical card is better suited for those who want a tangible backup or use it for balance checks at ATMs.
Who Can Apply?
The E-Com Dollar Card is open to new and existing customers of Everest Bank. Both individual users and corporate customers can apply. The card is especially useful for those who regularly buy goods or services from international online platforms.
To be eligible, users must have an active savings or current account with updated KYC information. They also need to provide a valid PAN number, an updated mobile number, and a working email address.
Easy Application Process
Getting the card is simple. Customers can fill out an online or physical application form. Along with the form, they must submit a copy of their PAN, a self-declaration, and relevant KYC documents. For corporate clients, an authorization letter or board resolution is also required.
Once approved, the card is either delivered physically to the branch or shared electronically for virtual versions. Virtual card details, including the card number, expiry date, and CVV, are sent to the user’s email in a password-protected format.
Designed for E-Commerce
The E-Com Dollar Card is created with a clear purpose—to make online dollar payments easier and safer. The card allows users to buy from websites that accept USD payments, including shopping sites, online courses, digital platforms, and global subscription services.
It cannot be used for ATM withdrawals or in-person retail payments. Instead, it is specifically built for online transactions through international websites.
Secure and Verified Transactions
Online safety is a major concern for many users. Everest Bank addresses this by integrating two-factor authentication and 3D Secure protocols in the card. This means that every transaction goes through a secure verification process.
In addition, customers receive real-time alerts for each transaction, adding another layer of transparency and protection.
Low Fees and No Hidden Charges
Everest Bank has kept the pricing simple and affordable. The virtual card costs USD 5, while the physical card costs USD 10. These charges cover the entire four-year validity period or until the card expires—whichever comes first.
The bank does not charge an annual fee, and there are no costs for loading or reloading the card. There is a USD 1 fee for registering with 3D Secure, and balance inquiries at Everest Bank ATMs are free. Other ATM inquiries (for physical cards only) cost USD 0.50.
Users should also be aware of a 1% cross-border fee and a minimum transaction fee of USD 0.50 or 0.50%, whichever is higher.
Reloadable with Annual Limits
The E-Com Dollar Card comes with a yearly spending limit of USD 500, as per Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) guidelines. Customers can reload the card multiple times within that limit.
However, the limit is subject to change. Everest Bank will update customers based on future instructions from NRB or internal policy changes.
Corporate Customers Welcome
Businesses in Nepal also stand to benefit from this service. Companies that purchase digital services or tools from abroad can use the E-Com Dollar Card to pay vendors or subscribe to online platforms.
To apply, corporate clients must provide standard documentation along with an authorization letter or board decision.
This feature can help businesses avoid delays and maintain compliance when making cross-border payments.
Monthly E-Statements and Notifications
Cardholders receive a free monthly e-statement via email. This helps users keep track of their spending and maintain financial records.
Combined with instant transaction alerts, this transparency ensures better budget control and account monitoring.
Supporting Nepal’s Digital Growth
Everest Bank’s new card fits well into Nepal’s journey toward digital banking and financial inclusion. As more users explore global markets, the need for flexible and secure payment options becomes critical.
The E-Com Dollar Card answers this demand. It empowers individuals and businesses to connect with international sellers and service providers using a trusted financial tool.
Final Thoughts
The launch of the EBL E-Com Dollar Card is a smart and practical step for Everest Bank. It addresses the growing needs of online shoppers and businesses alike.
With secure features, low costs, and easy access, the card opens new doors for global commerce from Nepal. Whether you’re an individual buying from Amazon or a business paying for digital tools, this card makes the process simpler, safer, and smoother.
