4th March 2025, Kathmandu The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) recently organized a Welcome and Congratulations Program to honor the newly elected officials of sectoral associations. The event witnessed the presence of Vice President Chiranjibi Adhikari, General Secretary Chandra Bilash Bhurtel, and Treasurer Bikram Singh, along with other esteemed members of FNCCI and business leaders. Key Highlights of Vice President Chiranjibi Adhikari’s Remarks During the program, Vice President Chiranjibi Adhikari emphasized the importance of collaboration among all sector members within FNCCI to integrate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into business strategies. His speech addressed several crucial topics that are expected to shape Nepal’s economic and business landscape: Submission of AI Policy Draft – CAN Federation has submitted a comprehensive AI policy draft to the government, aiming to establish Nepal as a hub for artificial intelligence-driven industries and digital transformation. Nepal as a Tax Haven Country – He proposed making Nepal a Tax Haven Country, which could attract global businesses and encourage investments from international corporations. Priority for Startups and Innovation – Adhikari stressed the need for government policies that support startups and innovation, providing young entrepreneurs with the necessary resources to scale their businesses and foster economic growth. Promoting Local Software and Global Expansion – The FNCCI Vice President advocated for promoting Nepali software companies in the global market, emphasizing that government-backed initiatives and partnerships could strengthen the industry’s international reach. Praise for Government’s IT Ordinance (Adhyadesh) – He commended the government’s efforts to bring forward an IT Ordinance (Adhyadesh) that could boost the country’s digital economy and support the growth of Nepal’s IT sector. Addressing the Cotiviti Case – Adhikari highlighted the need to resolve the Cotiviti case, which has raised concerns among IT investors and professionals in Nepal. He urged government intervention to create a fair and investment-friendly environment. Attracting National and International Investors – He underscored the significance of foreign direct investment (FDI) and national capital mobilization to drive Nepal’s economy forward. He encouraged both government and private sectors to create investment-friendly policies that ensure sustainable economic development.
