Taxpayer Incentive Program Bhadra Winners Announcement Date Fixed for Ashwin 1

The Inland Revenue Department under the Ministry of Finance has announced that the winners of the Taxpayer Incentive Program for the month of Bhadra will be officially declared on Ashwin 1, 2083.

Taxpayer Incentive Program Bhadra

The prize announcement, originally scheduled for Bhadra 16, was postponed due to the disaster caused by the Bhotekoshi flood in Rasuwa. The Taxpayer Incentive Program was introduced at the beginning of the new fiscal year to encourage consumers to obtain purchase bills and build the habit of contributing to tax compliance.

Operating since Shrawan 1, 2083, the program aims to promote transparency across consumer transactions. Following the disruption caused by the flood disaster, the department confirmed that prizes covering the entire month of Bhadra will now be declared together.

33 Winners to Receive Cash Prizes

The selection process for the Bhadra prize distribution will take place in two distinct phases:

• First Phase (Bhadra 1 to Bhadra 15): 15 daily winners will be selected, with each receiving NPR 133,334. Eligible participants include consumers who registered their purchase invoices on the official portal and those who made online purchases during the first 15 days. Additionally, one participant from this period will win the Taxpayer Bumper Incentive Prize of NPR 1 million.
• Second Phase (Bhadra 16 to Bhadra 31): 16 winners will be selected for transactions made during the second half of the month, each receiving NPR 133,334. One additional winner from this period will be awarded the second NPR 1 million bumper prize.

In total, the department will select 33 winners on Ashwin 1, comprising 31 regular winners receiving NPR 133,334 each and two bumper prize winners receiving NPR 1 million each.

Eligibility and Registration Requirements

To participate in the program, consumers must satisfy specific conditions:

• Purchases must be made with an original VAT or PAN bill for transactions exceeding NPR 100.
• Consumers paying via online digital methods are automatically entered into the government system.
• For cash purchases, consumers receiving an original bill must upload it to the Taxpayer Incentive Prize Portal to receive a participation coupon.
• Coupons for transactions between Bhadra 1 and Bhadra 15 had to be registered by Bhadra 15. Coupons for transactions from Bhadra 16 to Bhadra 31 must be registered by midnight on the final day of Bhadra.

Net Payouts After 25 Percent Tax

As per government tax regulations on windfall gains, a 25 percent tax deduction applies to all prize payouts:

• Regular Prize: Winners of the NPR 133,334 gross prize will receive NPR 100,000 net after tax.
• Bumper Prize: Winners of the NPR 1 million gross bumper prize will receive NPR 750,000 net after tax.

Continuation of Formal Tax System Initiatives

The program previously awarded 33 winners for the month of Shrawan, with selection conducted by Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle. By continuing the initiative, the Inland Revenue Department seeks to reinforce official billing practices, increase formal market recording, and enhance overall tax compliance.
