Daraz, Nepal’s largest e-commerce company, has appointed Aanchal Kunwar as its managing director. Kunwar has spent the last five years as a worldwide expansion manager at e-commerce giant Amazon.
Daraz’s managing director has been named Aanchal Kunwar, according to Bjarke Mikkelsen, the company’s CEO and founder. Mikkelsen claims that his appointment will aid in the completion of the regional trade strategy.
Kunwar completed her ISC at St. Xavier’s Maitighar. Kunwar has a bachelor’s degree from St. Cloud State University and an MBA from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. After Alibaba Group acquired Daraj from Rocket Internet SE, Kunwar was named managing director. Kunwar has spent the last 15 years working in senior roles abroad.
Aanchal Kunwar’s appointment as Managing Director, according to Mickelson, will set an example for Nepali women. Mikkelsen also hopes that her presence at the Daraz will create more opportunities for women in other Nepalese enterprises/businesses and help to eliminate gender discrimination.
