App and number made public to provide information regarding the earthquakes

Kathmandu, May 16 – An application names ‘Nepal Earthquake Updates’ has been made public alongside a toll-free number with the objective to provide immediate information to the general public after the earthquake.

Mines and Geology Department in collaboration with IT engineer Suresh Manohar Shrestha developed the application. Similarly, in partnership with Nepal telecom, the toll-free number was made public.

The app and the toll-free number were inaugurated by Minister Mahesh Basnet in an event organized at the Department of Industry. The app provides immediate information regarding the recent quakes, i.e., their epicenters, magnitude and time.

The toll-free number is said to provide similar information. Minister Basnet expressed his belief that these technologies will help the general public to know about the nature of the earthquakes and all the required information including the epicenter and Richter Scale.

The developer of the app announced that the app, for now, can only be used in Android Mobiles and can be downloaded for free through Google Apps. Similarly, people can call on 1618014410141 and get the information free of cost.
