Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authorities (CIAA) filed a letter to the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) after the application of slow internet speed was received immensely from customers.

In the letter issued by the authority, Internet Service Provider Worldlink is asked to probe on a matter of irregularity in internet speed. NTA had informed to submit the report regarding this issue.

“The complaints regarding slow internet speed is escalating every day. The main major complaints that are received by NTA are mostly in the matter of slow internet speed”, informed Min Prasad Aryal Spokesperson of NTA.

He also stated though the authority is addressing such kind of problem the flow of objection has not been stopped yet. Fifty-one complaints regarding internet issue have been received by NTA from last year.

 According to the director NTA, Bijay Kumar Raya, “the numbers of complaints regarding internet that has been received from past one year are not accurate because of the weakness in the complaint management system and manpower.”  He also added the numbers of complaints are more than we have in our records, improper management system led us to unauthentic result.

The general kinds of complaints that are mostly received by NTA regarding the internet are:

  • Irregularity in internet speed
  • Unexpected disconnection of the internet.
  • Poor internet quality
  • Awful service

 Though the authority has already addressed the problem, the ISP is not responding to it. In the first four months of this year, NTA has already received 13 complaints regarding internet service.

The internet problem often takes place when there is something wrong on customer’s router; likewise, the distance between customer and router also creates a problem in internet connection said Sudhir Sharma operator of ISP Subisu.
