The Bagmati state government has begun the long-awaited process of purchasing electric buses. The state government is planning to buy 30 electric buses.
The State Government’s Provincial Transport Operations and Management Board has invited international bids for the purchase of the bus on Wednesday.
Bids have been invited for the purchase of 30 electric buses, including 20 large buses and 10 long-distance buses.
The process of purchasing an Eco-Friendly electric bus will begin in the current fiscal year. With the bus arriving in Poush-Magh of the following year 2078.
Despite the state government’s announcement of the policy and program to operate electric buses in the previous fiscal year. The process of purchasing electric vehicles had been delayed. As there was no executive director of the state transport operation and management board.
The board’s director said that a 45-day tender has been called for the purchase of 30 electric buses and 15 chargers.
There are plans to purchase 10 coach city minibusses ranging in length from 8.5 meters to 9.4 meters. As well as 20 city minibusses ranging in length from 10.5 meters.
Two to five charging stations are scheduled for Hetauda, two for Bharatpur, and seven to ten for Kathmandu. Land for charging stations has been made available in Hetauda and Bharatpur, and land in Kathmandu is being searched.
To encourage similar electric vehicles, a charging station will be built in Dhading between Kurintar and Galchi.
