Beyond the Lab 2024

The event highlighted the vital role of pathology in healthcare and diagnostics, drawing attention from faculty, students, and medical professionals.

Significance of Pathology in Healthcare

Speaking at the program, the Chairman of Nepal Medical College, Prof. Dr. Jainuddin Ansari, emphasized the essential contribution of pathology in diagnosing diseases and ensuring proper treatment. He shared his perspective, saying, “When I was a student, there was little awareness about pathology. It was only after the introduction of a specific curriculum and the establishment of the Pathology Department that we realized its importance. Pathology is crucial for accurate diagnostics. Without it, doctors would struggle to identify diseases, undermining the value of medical treatment.” Prof. Dr. Ansari also committed the college administration to support and enhance the effectiveness of the Pathology Department.

Administration’s Commitment to Quality

Dr. Sabiha Yasmin, the Managing Director of Nepal Medical College, extended her best wishes on Pathology Day. She discussed the importance of improving the quality and services of the Pathology Department and assured that the administration remains committed to providing continuous support. Dr. Yasmin stressed that the college would actively assist in initiatives highlighting the department’s contributions and services.

Insights from the Principal and Pathology Department Head

Nepal Medical College Principal, Prof. Dr. Modnath Marhattha, highlighted the indispensable role of the Pathology Department in improving healthcare services. Meanwhile, the Head of the Pathology Department, Prof. Dr. Sujata Pudasaini, shared insights about the significance of International Pathology Day and the department’s ongoing efforts to advance medical diagnostics.

Blood Donation Drive for a Good Cause

The celebration also included a blood donation drive in the college courtyard. With the rising number of dengue cases and the increasing demand for blood nationwide, the event aimed to address the urgent need. Prof. Dr. Sujata Pudasaini mentioned that faculty members, students, nurses, and visitors to the hospital participated in the blood donation, making the event impactful and timely.

Nepal Medical College’s observance of International Pathology Day underlines the significance of pathology in healthcare and reflects a commitment to enhancing medical education and diagnostics.
