eSewa Hackathon 2026 Concludes in Sauraha: Paving the Way for Digital and Sustainable Fintech Solutions

The highly anticipated “eSewa Hackathon 2026,” organized by Nepal’s premier digital payment service provider, eSewa, has successfully concluded in the scenic town of Sauraha.
eSewa Hackathon 2026 Concludes
The residential hackathon, which commenced on May 29 (Jeth 15), brought together top tech talents to pitch creative, sustainable, and groundbreaking digital solutions before wrapping up on Sunday.
In a unique endeavor to merge financial technology with ecological responsibility, eSewa hosted this iteration of the hackathon in collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Nepal.
The collaboration emphasized developing digital applications that cater to wildlife and environmental preservation alongside standard financial technology.
Fostering Innovation and Youth Entrepreneurship
Aimed at nurturing a culture of innovation, exploring localized digital alternatives, and driving youth entrepreneurship across Nepal, the hackathon saw fierce competition among 63 young minds divided into 20 shortlisted teams from across the nation.
The tech cohorts addressed real-world issues by building prototypes and presentations in critical domains, including FinTech, Cybersecurity, Digital Inclusion, and Environmental Sustainability.
Winners and Accolades
Following an intensive evaluation by an esteemed panel of judges, three standout teams were selected for their scalability, technological execution, and impact.

Addressing the closing ceremony, Jagdish Khadka, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of eSewa, praised the participants’ competitive spirit and unparalleled enthusiasm. He confirmed that the digital solutions presented during the event would be evaluated for future integration and development.
“We firmly believe that the creative and innovative solutions proposed by these young minds will significantly contribute to our digital economy and environmental conservation in the days ahead. It is the innovation, energy, and creativity of new talents that will define the future of a secure and robust Fintech ecosystem,” said Khadka.
Moving forward, eSewa reiterated its steadfast commitment to routinely conducting similar tech-driven programs to reinforce Nepal’s digital roadmap, foster grassroots entrepreneurship, and bridge the digital divide.
