Ever since TikTok has been banned in India along with other 58 Chinese apps, the digital space in India is going crazy! Who will replace TikTok? Or who will take over the viral and trending video making religion?

One of the best bets to replace TikTok can be Instagram’s new video feature – Reels! TikTok has over 200 million user base in India alone. Facebook’s Instagram hopes to capture this audience with its new Instagram Reels. However, Instagram isn’t alone in the race to capture the market space. Other local Indian apps are making their attempts to replace TikTok, or replicate TikTok.

Will Instagram Reels make a difference? Let’s understand what Reels actually is.

What is Instagram Reels?

Instagram Reels is not a standalone new app. It is a new feature within the Instagram app that allows users to create short 15 second videos!

To be honest, Reels is officially in an experimental stage. The creative company is taking initial feedback from its users as well.

How does Instagram Reels work?

If you’re a TikTok user, the Instagram Reels interface can have a subtle reminder.

In the video feature, you can select an audio track, and speed up or down a video. Similarly, you can add effects and set up a timer to record a clip.

Since Reels is in its initial stage, you can only create a 15-second clip.

Your Reel is displayed in your Instagram feed, and if it’s amazing, you may find your Reel in the Explore tab as well!

Will Instagram Reels Replace TikTok?

To replace the huge influence of TikTok will not be easy for Instagram. Content creators wonder if Reels can be monetized, or whether Reels is worth spending time and energy upon.

Instagram can get busy with so many features inside one app. They already have other video formats and adding one more can complicate things.

But as long as TikTok remains banned in India, Instagram, as well as other promising platforms, have an opportunity to replace TikTok.
