FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal welcomed all attendees and expressed optimism that the industrial environment in Nepal is improving. He also conveyed his hope that any upcoming challenges would be addressed collaboratively.

During the meeting, JTUCC President Yogendra Kunwar emphasized the need to review the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in Mangsir of the previous year.

He highlighted the importance of identifying measures to mitigate future challenges bilaterally, stressing the necessity of enhancing the role of both workers and employers in activating the Social Security Fund.

GFONT President Binod Shrestha reiterated the importance of the previously established bilateral agreement, which aims to protect industries while organizing the labor market. He called for the formation of a working group to implement the programs outlined in the agreement.

FNCCI Vice President and Chairperson of the Employers’ Council Jyotsana Shrestha emphasized the need for the prompt implementation of the agreement made last Mangsir.

She also called for sector-specific discussions on minimum wage determination, productivity, and other related issues. Additionally, she stressed the importance of resolving potential issues bilaterally before approaching the government and highlighted the need for discussions on international conventions.

After the meeting, both sides agreed to develop a strategic plan addressing all discussed issues. It was decided that the FNCCI/ILO EWPN project would provide support in this effort. Before the strategic plan workshop, a task force comprising three officials from each side and one representative from the secretariat will be formed.

The task force will be guided by a Terms of Reference (ToR) outlining its duties, responsibilities, and powers.
