Google is going to add a “buy button” in its search result very soon. This option will help Google Search users to purchase goods without going to other sites behind Google. This addition is to reduce the “friction” so that the users can buy more things online, Omid Kordestani, Chief Business Officer of Google, said. Now, Google will soon be facing competition from Amazon in this sector.

At a Code Conference in California on Wednesday, Kordestani said that a buy button is imminent and there is going to be one. This will make it easy for shoppers to buy products featured in its shopping advertisements beside the search results. He further added; location-based searches will help users to find products that are close to them.

This feature “Google Buy” might be available in the mobile devices and mobile-optimized sites in the first phase as Google believes in the fact that e-commerce can be forwarded via smartphones and tablets. Google further acknowledged that mobile-related searches have doubled in the past year.

Google’s decision for “Google Buy” to be available on handheld devices might make retailers and consumers to create mobile-optimized websites.

Google Buy is expected to face a lot of competition from its competitors like Amazon and e-Bay. However, integrating a buy button with SERP will allow users to compare products from several sites and make an informed decision rather than using only one website for buying products.

According to the BBC, Google can announce this addition of buy button at its I/O developers conference in San Francisco today.
