Shequal Foundation in collaboration with Ncell Axiata Limited is organizing the ‘Hacking for Humanity Hackathon’, targeting girls from information technology (IT) from across the country. The hackathon is being conducted on February 10-12.

As part of our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and to support women in the field of ICT, Ncell has partnered with Shequal Foundation for this largest all-female hackathon in the country. Other partners of the hackathon include Girls in Tech and Women in Big Data.

According to Shequal Foundation, through this collaborative and innovative event, participating teams work together to create unique and impactful prototype solutions to address problems being faced in areas including health, education, and agriculture among others. As a part of the preparation, college activation is ongoing until the end of January 2023 and will take place in all 7 provinces.

Ncell believes that this hackathon will contribute to the career growth of girls in the IT field and provide exposure to opportunities. This event provides a space to encourage female and non-binary hackers to collaborate, ideate, and innovate together for a better cause.

Interested girls need to form a team of three girls and can simply register in the hackathon via Ncell App, scanning the event registration code. Shortlisted teams will be announced on February 03. Pre-event activities are being organized in various colleges focusing on design thinking, entrepreneurial finance, business model canvas, story presentation idea pitching, and delivery

As per Shequal Foundation, these kinds of targeted initiatives enhance women’s representation in IT-related industries in Nepal and aid their equal participation in the digital economy, supporting to bring benefits not only to individual women and their families but also to society and the economy.

There will be more than 16 mentors and over 11 jury teams in the event. Winning first, second, and third teams will get exciting prizes.
