World’s most significant student Competition Comes to School of Management, Tribhuvan University as HultPrize Challenge 2018 at SOMTU. This is the challenge of the innovative and creative idea; such ideas should changes the lives of millions of peoples over the world. In Nepal, SOMTU is Organizing these competition events on December 13, 2017.

The Hult Prize is the world’s most significant student competition and start-up platform for social good. In partnership with former President Bill Clinton, this innovative crowdsourcing platform identifies and launches disruptive and catalytic social ventures that aim to solve the planet’s most pressing challenges. Student team competes around the world for a chance to secure US$ 1 million start-up funding to launch a sustainable social venture.

The 2018 Hult Prize “President’s Challenge” as announced by President Bill Clinton at the United Nations is: “Harnessing the Power of Energy to Transform the Lives of 10 Million People”. The Hult Prize invites business ideas in any of the following six dimensions; Connectivity, Mobility, Food, Water, Health and Education, to impact the lives of 10 million by 2025 in the world.

The winning team from the Hult Prize @ School of Management, Tribhuvan University Final Event will be fast-tracked to compete at one of the sixteen regional finals events around the world, bypassing the general application which annually receives over 20,000 applicants from more than 350 colleges and universities in over 150 countries.

The Hult Prize regional competition will take place in March 2018 in 16 different locations. Following the regional finals, one winning team from each host city will attend a summer business accelerator, where participants will receive mentorship, advisory and strategic planning as they create prototypes and set-up to launch their new social business. A final round competition will take place in September 2018, where one winning team will be selected as the winner and will be awarded the US$ 1,000,000.

Eligibility to participation:

  • Open to all students of four faculties of Tribhuvan University viz. Faculty of Management, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Education, and Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Students are invited to form a team of 3-4
  • The student can be a mix of programs and colleges
  • There is no charge to apply

This year there will be National Competition on June/July 2018, where 12 teams, top 3 from 4 campus events viz SOMTU, KU, PU, and IOE will compete, and the winner will receive $20,000 prize.
