Key Objectives of the Program

The program aimed to train more than 45 employees of the Patan Museum on using digital technology for heritage management, tourism promotion, and digital preservation of local heritage. Last fiscal year, Lalitpur Metropolitan City, in partnership with Kaha Incorporation, digitally documented 100 heritage sites, including the Patan Museum.

Highlights of the Initiative

Narayan Chhetri, Founder / CEO of Kaha Incorporation, shared the key achievements of the Digital Heritage Documentation Project. He highlighted the installation of QR codes at heritage sites, enabling visitors to scan the codes and access detailed information about the historical, cultural, and religious significance of the sites in multiple languages.

Manju Singh Bhandari, Executive Director of Patan Museum, emphasized that this initiative allows visitors to access comprehensive information about heritage sites digitally, without requiring assistance from museum staff.

Multilingual Accessibility

The QR codes provide tourists, including both Nepali and international visitors, with information in five different languages. This feature has been particularly praised for enhancing accessibility and enriching the experience for a diverse audience.

A New Dimension in Heritage Conservation

Bikasman Shrestha, Coordinator of the Industry, Tourism, and Culture Preservation Committee and Ward No. 5 President, noted that the project has introduced a new dimension to heritage preservation and promotion. He announced the successful completion of the first phase, which involved the digital documentation of 100 heritage sites.

This initiative represents a significant step forward in blending digital innovation with cultural preservation, ensuring that Nepal’s rich heritage is celebrated and safeguarded for generations to come.
