The fight between cybercriminals is an endless race after a cybersecurity vendor enhances the defenses, cybercriminals find new ways to bypass them. Then these ways get blocked by security vendors the cycle continues in a circle. Because of best security solutions need to be continuously updated and that means not just antivirus database updates, but also revising the core mechanics of the antivirus software as well as adding new features. After all, there is way more than just viruses to protect against.
Kaspersky solutions are good ones; it’s what hundreds of millions of existing users think, and what independent experts say. And yes, Kaspersky updates them regularly, but every summer there’s also a significant update that adds more features and improvements. This time has come for this year’s major update. The main products for consumers are Kaspersky Antivirus, Kaspersky Internet Security (for Windows Android, and Mac), Kaspersky Internet Security Android, Kaspersky Total Security, Kaspersky Security Cloud. The 2020 AD versions of all of these got new features and updates that make them faster, more secure to help build a safer world.
Security Enhancement
There are various types of threats, each requiring a unique approach. Kasperksy has strengthened defenses against network exploits such as the infamous EternalBlue used by the even more infamous WannaCry. Thus, excellent protection against such threats is a must.
Another kind of threats we’ve dealt with in this update is RATs aka remote access to different tools. RATs are legitimate tools used for remote support, often misused by cybercriminals to defraud persons. In the 2020 AD versions of Kaspersky security products, protection against RATs of all kinds is enabled by default. This to ensure an end-user is protected from a RAT without their consent. In this condition, the user needs to use such a tool; they can temporarily disable that protection.
New versions also improved protection against exploiting vulnerabilities in popular programs such as Microsoft Office package a common way for cybercriminals to attack a system.
As everything becomes more reliant on cloud storage, it is also essential to think about cloud protection. With one drive more deeply integrated with Windows 10, Kaspersky started scanning one drive storage for malware.
Beginning this year, all communications between Kaspersky products and its servers (be it Kaspersky Security Network, licensing, update servers) are encrypted. This means any data from the 2020 versions of Kaspersky products when exchanged with the servers, can’t be intercepted or modified.
Finally, it has added two-factor authentication to My Kaspersky accounts. So, if someone got hold of user’s password, they wouldn’t be able to break into the user account and tamper with security. Or worse yet, get detailed information about user’s kid’s online safety.
For Mac users, there is a Dark theme, Kaspersky Internet Security for Mac received a new dark item and strengthened security. The safe money feature has new enhancements, and users are now automatically prompted to scan external storage devices for malware once they are connected.
As for Android users, the 2020 Kaspersky Security Cloud for Android is fitted with a new feature permission checker. It allows a user to check if installed apps demand any individual or dangerous permissions. The user can also revoke these permissions if they think it’s necessary.
These are just the highlights of the new security improvements, but there are more. In short, robust solutions are now even stronger than before.
Performance Enhancement
Remember the oldy myth, ” an antivirus solution slows computers down.” Kaspersky has sped up its solutions processes so that they consume fewer resources but work faster. This year’s increase in performance is 15 percent although in some cases such as installing apps on Mac- it can reach 50% however, Kaspersky solutions weren’t slow, to begin with. When it came to the performance, they came in first place in independent tests. But the 2020 version of Kaspersky solutions will be even better at maintaining users’ security and protecting their privacy remarkably fast.
Moreover, Kaspersky has redesigned the interface to be lighter and easier to navigate. There’s nothing too complicated in installing and setting up a security solution, and now it’s become even more comfortable.
