Software Freedom Day (SFD), observed annually on the third Saturday of September, is a global initiative that underscores the importance of free and open-source software.
This day serves as a public education effort, aiming to raise awareness about the virtues of Free Software and encourage its widespread use. At the heart of SFD lies the concept of free distribution, where users have the right to share copies of open-source software, fostering collaboration and innovation without the shackles of restrictive licensing barriers.
