KMC to track public vehicles using GPS

The problems of traffic congestion in the city can be deemed as a significant issue that should not be ignored. The present-day traffic jam has aggravated the emergency cases and sadly led to death.

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) announced the plan to install GPS devices on all public vehicles in a bid to manage traffic in the Kathmandu Valley. The KMC is preparing to conduct a feasibility study for the project.  The KMC and Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) are planning to work together to implement and operate the system as soon as possible.

According to officials, by installing GPS devices on public vehicles, the position of the Vehicle will be traced in the control room so that they will be able to fix their arrival time and relay that information to the digital boards that would be set up at bus stops.

KMC Chief Administrative Officer Yadav Prasad Koirala also said that they are working towards managing the city bus stops.
