Madan Bhandari Memorial College is set to host the MBMC Idea X 2024, a platform designed to showcase the talents of students studying information technology.

The event will run from September 27 to 29, 2024, and marks the second edition of the college’s hackathon, aimed at promoting innovation and creativity among young tech enthusiasts.
Event Overview
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Dr. Baburam Adhikari, the campus chief, highlighted that 23 teams from Nepal and abroad will compete in the hackathon. More than 100 students are expected to participate, working on various categories to win awards. Competitions will focus on six distinct categories, and winners will be selected based on their innovative solutions.
Categories and Prizes
Participants will work on ideas related to environmental technology, healthcare and accessibility, decentralization, cybersecurity, tourism, fintech, and agricultural technology. The best ideas will receive cash prizes of NPR 10,000 and NPR 5,000, along with certificates, rewarding both category winners and overall champions.
Fostering Innovation
According to Phul Babu Jha, head of the College’s Science and Technology Department, the hackathon will encourage participants to interact with experts, fostering the creation of new ideas.
He expressed hope that talented competitors will emerge with innovative solutions, especially in the fields of digital technology, management, and accounting. Jha believes the event will inspire the young generation to develop innovative ideas and make significant strides in their chosen fields.
Inaugural Ceremony
The event’s opening ceremony will take place on September 27, with Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, chairman of the college, serving as the chief guest. The hackathon will run for three days, encouraging collaboration and competition among participants.
Previous Hackathon
The first edition of MBMC Idea X was held from October 6 to 8, 2023, focusing on the preservation, promotion, and revitalization of indigenous languages. In partnership with UNESCO Nepal, the 48-hour onsite hackathon saw the participation of over 50 competitors from across the country, united under the theme, “Language is Life, Life is Language.”
By continuing this tradition, Madan Bhandari Memorial College is establishing itself as a hub for technological innovation and a launching pad for future IT leaders.
