Khalti Digital Wallet, in collaboration with CDS & Clearing Limited, has made it possible for users to pay the Mero Share and Demat account renewal fee of 76 Depository Participants (DP) from Khalti Digital Wallet without any extra service charge.

This arrangement was implemented after an agreement between the CEO of CDS & Clearing Limited, Purna Prasad Acharya, and Assistant Manager – Business Development of Khalti Digital Wallet, Mr. Jonaam Bhurtel. This has enabled MeroShare and Demat account holders to pay their renewal fee through the Mero Share website by simply logging into it and choosing Khalti as the payment option. The renewal fee needs to be paid annually.

After the contract signing, Mr. Bhurtel said, “This collaboration has now opened doors for more than 3 million investors to renew their Demat and Mero share account in real-time without standing in the line. I can say this confidently that more people will be now encouraged to invest in shares. This will surely be a great contributor to our Digital Nepal campaign.”

The account gets deactivated if users fail to pay the renewal fee in time. Without renewal, the shares in the Demat account can no longer be transferred. Along with that, the investors can no longer apply for Initial public offering (IPO) issued by various companies, which is why it is essential to renew it in time.
